Madrid, 5 October 2020. ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones and Propollo, the Interprofessional Association of Poultry Farming, have signed an agreement for the implementation of initiatives to disseminate, train and promote poultry products abroad.

The agreement, which will run for two years, will start with an in-depth needs analysis, the conclusions of which will be set out in a work plan. This will define actions for the dissemination, training and promotion of poultry products. In this sense, workshops, seminars or discussion forums on the internationalisation of the sector will be developed, as well as international promotion activities, whether they are technical conferences, seminars on opportunities in strategic markets or reverse missions of buyers or opinion leaders.

The aim is to increase the turnover of this sector, which has a turnover of 2,300 million euros per year and more than 40,000 direct and indirect jobs. In addition, it will provide a strong impetus to diversify the destination of its sales, which until now have been mainly accounted for in the Spanish market.

For Jordi Monfort, secretary general of Propollo, "this agreement will be an important support for the entire poultry industry, which is already mature enough from a business point of view to undertake international expansion with guarantees, in attractive markets such as Europe, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, China, the Philippines and Japan".

María Peña, CEO of ICEX, stresses that "internationalisation is the great challenge for this sector, so through promotional actions or instruments such as customised market studies, this path will be facilitated, identifying commercial partners for the export and investment of its industry".

Marketing and public relations actions will be essential for the establishment of poultry products in international markets, in which an increasingly specialised digital activity is envisaged and which seeks positioning among the professional public. To this end, they will be backed by the Foods & Wines From Spain brand and the use of the Poultry From Spain quality seal.
